West Bay

West Bay is the harbour for Bridport. It is a working port, familiar to many as the location for ITV’s series “Broadchurch”. The Arts and Crafts Pier Terrace and modern Ellipse development (Broadchurch’s police station!) frame each side of the boat-filled harbour, and crab-fishing is a popular family pastime from the quayside.

Glorious golden cliffs tower over a long sand and shingle beach beloved by holiday makers and sea-anglers alike. Foodies will enjoy the fine dining on offer at several establishments, or there’s a more casual cafe culture and the guilty pleasure of open-air fish and chips from the harbourside kiosks, perhaps followed by a delicious dairy ice-cream cornet!

Adventurous seafarers might enjoy a thrilling RIB ride along the Jurassic coast to picturesque Lyme Regis, or a mackerel fishing trip from the harbour. The spectacular coastline is best appreciated from the sea – so don’t forget to take your camera.
