A Walk to Durdle Door

For its global geological importance, this iconic image of Dorset was awarded England’s very first natural World Heritage Site status by UNESCO in 2001. Whether you visit Durdle Door wrapped up in scarf and gloves sharing a coffee flask or basking in the summer sun, a trip to this breathtaking landmark, its shingle beach and expanse of water is a lovely way to spend time with your other half in Dorset.

Paddle Boarding

With the English Channel on your doorstep, we think it would be a shame not to make the most of it by hiring paddle boards! Gold Hill, Shaftesbury

You may remember this quintessentially British street from the famous Hovis bread advert of 1973, The Two Ronnies, Only Fools and Horses or even the copious calendar features it can be counted for. Gold Hill is a piece of Dorset heritage featuring the renowned cobbled street, thatched roofs creeping ivy and vista of endlessly rolling hills. For couples in Dorset looking to meander a place steeped in history and wholesome parkland, Gold Hill is a must!

Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall’s River Cottage

The River Cottage is more than just a restaurant; it’s an experience. For all those who visit this celebrated place, exceptional dining, beautiful scenery and a shared joy await. Throughout the year, there are a number of extraordinary events including seasonal specials, cookery courses, the River Cottage Festival as well as banquets and festive feasts – or the traditional Sunday lunch, of course. What’s the best news? The River Cottage is tucked into Bridport’s woodland and just a stone’s throw from your cosy holiday cottage.

Hix Restaurant, Lyme Regis

After all of the fresh air and adventure, you are your other half are well-deserving of some delicious food to fill those hungry stomachs – and Hix Oyster and Fish House in nearby Lyme Regis is certainly one to tick off. Serving up some of the finest local produce and seafood caught that morning, dining at Hix Restaurant with panoramic views of the Jurassic Coast is truly a wonderful offering from Dorset.

For any couple in Dorset that enjoys a glass (or two…) of some fine wine will be in for a treat with Furleigh Estate’s Wine Tours. With a stroll through the vineyards and cellars whilst hearing the history of English wine and how it is still made on site, you will be treated to a generous wine tasting and should you opt for it, a sharing platter of local cheese and charcuterie to really top off the day.
