Netherbury
Netherbury
Netherbury once overshadowed its larger neighbour Beaminster, as an important centre for growing and milling flax and hemp for the rope industries of Bridport. Set beside the River Brit and surrounded by extraordinary hilly country, it is still well-known for cider-making, and in spring, the nearby countryside is a picture in pink and white apple-blossom.
If you enjoy visiting stately homes and gardens, you’ll find several nearby attractions, including the formal Italian and wild valley gardens of Mapperton House just up the road. Following a tour of the house and/or gardens, you can relax in the licensed café under a splendid Indian hanging over a light lunch or afternoon tea.
