Hooke
Hooke
Hooke is another tranquil Dorset village, which is in two parts – one round the church, and the other round a large pond and overlooked by Hooke Court, the manor house, on the hill above.
Naturalists will enjoy two wonderful locations nearby. The beechwoods at Hooke Park (home to the Parnham woodworking school) are said to be the finest bluebell woods for many miles – visit in May for a glorious vista of perfumed blue flowers overarched by lime green leaves, or in autumn for russet foliage and leaves to scuff through! Kingcombe Nature Reserve is a delight in spring and summer, with its unimproved flower-rich meadows and informative visitor centre, art gallery and café, as well as a wide variety of classes and workshops.
