Eype
Eype
Eype is a rural village in two parts – Higher Eype on the hill, and Lower Eype leading down to the sea at Eype’s Mouth (Eype, appropriately, means “steep place”, and is pronounced to rhyme with steep!).
Surprisingly for such a small settlement, the Eype Church Centre for the Arts hosts a variety of high-profile exhibitions, concerts and events, and you can eat out at the Holiday Park café, or the hotel; for a more adventurous experience in the summer, there are wonderful walks you can take along the coast to the secluded Downhouse Farm Café, which features lovely cream teas served outside overlooking the amazing coastline.
The Southwest Coast Path passes through Eypes Mouth, which is the starting point for a number of walks along the clifftop and local footpaths.
