Burton Bradstock

Burton Bradstock

Set in the fields of the Bride Valley, Burton Bradstock is a popular stopping place along the coast road from Bridport to Abbotsbury; the road is lined with stone and thatch cottages, some in the golden sandstone that makes up the honeycombed cliffs. It has two great pubs on the High Street serving food – The Three Horseshoes and The Anchor.

The National Trust beach is a wonderful and unspoilt place to visit on a windy winter’s day, with foaming waves crashing on the shingle and against the bright yellow cliffs, or in summer, very popular with families – but do heed the warning signs and keep away from the rocks!

Right on the beach, you will find the Hive Beach Café, with its emphasis on fresh seafood and local ingredients, as well as cooked breakfasts, coffee and cakes and ice cream – though when it’s busy, you may have to wait! Perched on the cliff above, the Seaside Boarding House restaurant offers fine dining and an imaginative menu.
