Bridport

This charming market town set in the hills of West Dorset is a magnet for anyone who values an old-fashioned approach to shopping and exploring, with many independent family businesses, artists’ studios, cafes and restaurants to see. Wednesdays and especially Saturdays are the best time to visit, when the wide main streets are lined with market stalls selling everything from local fresh produce via hand-made crafts to computer and phone accessories. Live music is often performed in the cobbled square by the Town Hall – just right for listening from a pavement table as you enjoy coffee and cake on a sunny morning.

During your visit, why not explore the Artisan and Vintage Quarter – a warren of studios, workshops and shops in an old industrial complex, featuring local arts and crafts, antiques, vintage and upcycled homewares and furniture, and lots more unique and interesting items? In these days when almost every shopping centre looks and sells much the same, this will be a refreshing change!
