Things to do in Bridport during Winter

Bridport and Dorset are both so beautiful to visit during the summer, but there’s so much going on during the winter that you can get involved in too. There’s plenty going on in the local and surrounding areas, so staying in one of our luxury holiday cottages is a great way of exploring Bridport in the winter – you can retire to the warmth and the comfort after a long day.

Ice Skating

About 15 miles from Bridport is the wonderful town of Dorchester. Here, you’ll find plenty of local eateries and traditional pubs to visit, but you can also find Dorchester’s outdoor ice skating rink. It’s a fabulous festive outing over the winter, especially as you near Christmas. Regardless of whether you’re an experienced skater, showing off and twirling, or a beginner skater slipping and sliding along, you’ll no doubt return to your Bridport holiday cottage tired out and giggling after a day out in Dorchester!

Seasonal Walks

Who doesn’t love a winter walk? Wrap up warm, maybe take a flask, and stop off at a pub or café on the way home for a hot chocolate or a mulled wine. Langdon Hill is a nice and easy walk perfect for little legs and dogs. It’s a 45-minute walk and the trail is one big circle, so you won’t need to plan a route or worry about bringing a map! It’s of course dog friendly, and you can see buzzards and fungi during the autumn and winter. Burton Bradstock is another favourite walking spot, because it is surrounded by countryside and beautiful coast. Both of these walks are but a stone’s throw from your luxury holiday cottage in Bridport, Dorset.

Christmas Markets!

Obviously as winter progresses through to December, there are plenty of festive markets going on. Bridport has its own, you can travel to the nearby Dorchester for some local food and drink, festivities, and present buying, and be back tucked up in your rental holiday cottage for bed time.

Pub Grub and Cafes

There’s nothing like tucking up in a local pub or café during the winter season, especially during winter nights. There’s something so warming and cosy about a chilly evening spent with a bottle of wine and pub grub, cosied away from the wind. This is why we love Bridport, because there are so many local eateries to have a tipple and a bite to eat at. The Stable is a great little place for cider and pizza lovers, and its all housed within an actual refurbished stable. They hold festive fun evenings as well as their year-round great food and drinks from local breweries.
